COMMISSIONER'S COUCH

THE RULES:

We have a pretty simple set of rules and bylaws:

 [1]

Dont be a dick. It's a pretty simple rule, but important nonetheless. Shit-talk and ruthless teasing will always be welcome, just dont be a dick...pretty sure you get it. You break this rule, we will vote on if you get to stay.

 [2]

Collusion is absolutely and unequivocally unacceptable. If you have a question on what this is, please feel free to ask me and I will happily explain or help you understand. You break this rule you will be booted from the league and your league dues will be forfeited.

 [3]

Any and all changes to league structure and scoring will require a supermajority vote. There are currently 12 of us, which means we will need a minimum of 8 votes to make any changes.

 [4]

Pay your dues. I do not care how or particularly when you pay your dues, but regardless of anything they must be paid BEFORE the draft. If you are unable to make this payment, your team will be locked and autodrafted and will not be returned to you until you have made payment.

 [5]

DON'T BE A DICK. Its honestly that important.

THE STRUCTURE:

This is a modified PPR redraft league, and while an in-depth dive into the vast minute changes would likely take a few pages to go over, we will keep it to the basic major differences.

A) No kickers: They are pointless in fantasy terms, and if you miss them so much go roll some dice and let the fates decide who you want to start each week.

B) In lieu of no kickers we have a second flex spot, and boosted defense/special teams scoring.

C) Only 5 bench spots. With a 12 man league and additional flex, the waivers can be pretty bleak, to combat this less spots on rosters are available to help with depth. Futher more, to help with shortened benches 2 IR spots will be available. But be careful, if you start a week with an ineligible player in your IR spot, the penalty is that they will be dropped from your team.

D) We run a FAB/FAAB system for waivers. Each manager is given 100 FAB budget, this is for you to use to bid on your waivers. Whomever bids the most on a free agent, will win said player, these are blind bids, so yeah, you kind of have to guess what the other managers might be trying to do. if the bid is tied, then traditional waiver order will come into play. Yahoo runs this automatically. To note, FAB is tradable.

E) Starting this year we will playout the season with a modified schedule. Considering each year we have 3 weeks of rematches against the first three opponents it makes for a relatively unbalanced schedule. To combat this we are stopping the regular season at week 11 (well 12) at this point based on traditional standings, teams in positions 1-4 will be locked for the playoffs (starting week 15) and be placed in the championship bracket. The championship bracket will be a traditional round robin play, after three weeks based on traditional scoring and tie breakers we will have positions 1-4 set; essentially the championship bracket is for bye weeks. The remainder of teams will be placed in a tradtional bracket: the Challengers bracket. Every team will play all three weeks culminating in a new ranking , the teams in the challengers bracket are playing for the last two spots in the playoffs. For a more in depth explanation head to the Matchups page as we near week 12.

SCORING:

As with league structure listing every scoring category is pointless due to the length and the fact that it's in the league on yahoo....so if you need to check how anything specifically works/scores...uh, go there (or just press the gold button labled "specifics".) That said however, I would like to point out some of the more unique scoring settings for the league:

QBs: 1

Scoring: this category is relatively boiler plate, except for TDs. 4 points per TD rewards running QBs too highly, and 6 PPTD almost makes the opposite true. We play with 5 PPTD. This allows for the premium of running QBs to garner importance, while also rewarding traditional QB play (when the play is relatively stellar.)

WRs: 2

Scoring: PPR, nothing exceptional.

RBs: 2

Scoring: traditional scoring with the added benefit of 0.5 points per First Down. RBs will always be king, but PPR makes for a slightly unbalalnced field, and 0.5PPR makes for a different league alltogether. in order to shore up the imbalance slightly, RBs are rewarded for consistent work.

TEs 1

Scoring: no changes to note

FLEX: 2

Scoring; You can play a WR/RB/TE in this spot, scoring is as it would normally be.

OFFENSE NOTES:

-New this year we have opened up return yards scoring, while this is a special teams scoring category the unfortunate side effect is that it makes for offensive players to gain points for return yards. However this is a minimal issue as a player only scores 1 point for every 50 yards returned, The record in any game of the NFL ever played was less than 400 return yards for an individual player (which would only net 8 points total.)

- Fumbles cost a player 1 point, lost fumbles cost a player 1 point, so technically a lost fumble will be a loss of 2 points for a player.

DEF: 1

Scoring: team defensive scoring is quite bolstered in this league, a perfect game can net you some very high points, other than the traditional point scoring categories, defenses will score points for three and outs (0.5 points per) as well as 4th down stops (2 points per.) the only bonus points in the league are for a defense that holds a team to less than 100 total yards (up to 5 points)
