Welcome to the Power Ranks! For those new to the league (Sean) and those that just didnt pay any attention to my emails last year or just straight up forgot how this all works, fear-not here's how it all works. Over the last two seasons I have curated a formula to generate the Fierce Gentlemen's League Power Rankings. There are 4 categories that can generate up to 100 points and a final multiplier for real world league rank that can bring your score up to a potential 200 points. Those categories are as follows:

1) Weighted win/loss on the week. Based on last weeks power rank (or in week 3's case just the week 2 standings) you will gain or lose 20 to -3 points. For example if you beat the #1 ranked team you are awarded 20 points, if you lose to them you are awarded 8 points, if you beat the #12 ranked team you are awarded 9 points, if you lose to them, you are getting -3 points. You are then given a performance multiplier based on how well you did compared to projected points on the week. Basically if you score around your projections you get no bonus nor loss of points, if you score considerably over or under you get a correlated multiplier from as high as a 50% bonus to as low as a 20% loss of points. This category can award as high as 30 points.

2) Total points scored on the season. This category is simple, if you scored the most points on the season you are getting 30 points, if you have the least you're getting 0. and everyone inbetween is getting a ratio score between the two. So just because you scored the 2nd most points doesnt mean you're getting 26 points, it all depends on how many points you scored in comparison to the league, this is a formula depending on league averages and range of points scored, for example week 2 has top scorer getting the awarded 30 points however 2nd place in the category is only getting 23.4 points. Its not complicated, but it is longer than I want to print out here, and these are MY rankings so I'll do what I want. This category awards up to 30 points.

3) Total points against for season. This is exactly the opposite of category 2 except instead of how many points you score its how many are put up against you and based on a 20 point scale. This category awards up to 20 points.

4) Season Record. Pretty straight forward a perfect season gets you 20 points, 0 wins gets you 0 points, everything inbetween is a ratio derived from how much each win would award you divided by the 20 points. If its not obvious this category can award you up to 20 points.

So that gets us to 30+30+20+20=100 possible points and now onto the final multiplier, and this is the big one! 1st and 2nd place in the league are awarded a multiplier of 2, 3rd through 6th place award a multiplier of 1.5, meaning you could theoretically score a possible 200 Power Ranking Points or PRPs (as you see above.)

Fear not gents, nobody gets 200, even the best statistical season on record the highest points adjusted were around 180-190. These rankings are designed to be swingy in the first few weeks, but become much harder to budge up and down as we near the end of the regular season. The PRP is however a pretty good ratio to how well a team is doing, especially week 6 and beyond. But with that all said lets get to the ranking breakdowns!

Since we have finsihed the first month of the season, I would like to do this weeks Power Rankings a little differently. I present to you: This week in Gifs:

THE BREAKDOWN

3: The Pit 4-1:  (Down 2)  90.33

Well Well Well....Well, well, WELL.....WELL, WELL, WELL. that's all.

10: Da Boyz 1-4:   (Up 1)  39.43

Dustin dealt with a tough loss in week 5, and is looking at another one in week 6, the hits might just keep on coming for da boyz. He keeps his head barely above water in the power ranks though due to being on the higher end of the points scored and scored against, as well as some higher ranked losses.

8: So You Wanna Slay The Dragon? 1-4:   (Up 1) 51.73

Finally a win for Arturo. Man, I thought that would never come, good for you. All it took was like 100 TDs from all your RBs...I'm totally sure they'll do that again this week....they might actually.

11: Eat it from the Dak 2-3:   (Down 1)  26.65

Despite monster performances by Puka and Jordan love in week 5, Robert still managed to give a winless team thier first win of the season. What can you say, your a giver! Why though with 2 wins are you down to 11th though? Well that's pretty simple, a low seeded loss combined with lower ranking on the points scored and scored against. There's always room for improvement right?

1: Ramshousen! 4-1:   (Up 1)  156.65

With a dominating victory on the back of the early season's MVP in Gibbs, Mike not only took over first place in the league, but first place in Power rankings, as well as taking over the top spot in highest scoring week. All in all today was a good day for Mr. Cohen. With high marks in points above expected, the most points scored on the season, and third most points against, its easy to see how Mike made it back to the top spot after a 4 week hiatus. This week, however he will have to see what life is like sans Gibbs due to Detroit's bye week coming so early in the season.

2: No chance. 4-1:   (Up 1)   148.55

David followed along with Mike to climb the ladder another week as well. Despite a win against a higher rated team, he was edged out of first place by points scored and not outscoring his projections by just under the qualifier of 30+ points for the highest multiplier. Fun fact of the day, if David had scored just 1.06 more points last week he would have come in at number 1 in power ranking. Just goes to show how fickle these things can be.  Week 6 may see David come crashing down the ranks if rostering basically entirely Raiders doesnt quite work out.

4: The champ is here! 4-1:  (Up 1)  83.02

Kylan, the giant slayer takes down the runaway train that WAS Alberto last week; although to be fair pretty much every team sans one (sorry Davon) would have run the train on Alberto's dog-watter squad last week. This week however, is another challenge for our reigning champ up against another solid team and battling some potential injuries, whether or not the train keeps rolling is definitely in more jeopardy than I'm sure Kylan is comfortable with

6: You mad bro? 3-2:  (Down  2)  64.31

Spencer is coming off of a pretty tough loss in week 5 to pretty much just Drake Maye, I mean how often do you think you would have won the game if you were told that youd be playing against Bijan Robinson but he wouldn't break 20 and everyone one your team would score pretty much at least 10 points....yeah that's definitely a hard loss to swallow there. And this week doesnt look too much better with key players on byes and a matchup against the 4th place team. Man Id say Im pulling for you...but I promised my mom I would never lie...dont worry Im not rooting for Kylan either.

7: F@$k the Cowboys 2-3:  (Even)  61.94

Bo had a nice win in week 5, and even though the standings have him lower down (8th) he gets a boost in the power ranks due to a higher seeded win and having face the most points against up to this point in the league. Week 6 sees him up against it vs Robert both sitting at 2-3, whoever comes out on top will be putting themselves into a strong spot for the last 5 weeks of the round robin season. Does Bijan show out this week?

5: Concussion Protocol Dropout 3-2:   (Up 1) 73.96

With a tough loss to our 2nd place team Sean's squad did some heavy lifting this last week, unfortunately even the waiver wire pickup of the century couldn't help enough to overcome the beating. Who the hell saw the Jets and thought..."yeah, they should score like 35 points!" Unfortunately for you though, you don't get any points in the win column for that one. On paper week 6 should be another win for Sean, however, he is potentially looking at some very hard injury news if JSN does not improve throughout the week, and if thats the case these beatings may just continue

9: Winner Winner Chicken Dinner 2-3:  (Down 1) 43.43

Eryk wasted a hell of a performance from his team in week 5, up against Davon's team putting up the actual lowest weekly score of the season, WWCD only needed the help of 3 players to take the week....man I'm so good at this game! It's like I'm thriving!

12: Get Yo Weight Up 0-5:  (Even) 13.39

I dont even know what to say at this point, its actually impresive. I mean your putting out line-ups that look pretty good each week, but somehow they just never work out. All is well though, I too lost my first 6 weeks last year, and ... well that's not the best example....well look on the bright side, at least your getting more points each week???
