W5 comish note

We have our first trade! While we dont see too many trades in this league, this one is not insignificant. The Pit and WInner Winner Chicken DInner (myself) have agreed to trade two starting RBS and WRs. It passed the league votes; unfortunately I do not have access to the statistics on these even as the commissioner, just whether or not it passes. After speaking with some of you though, I can say it was probably a fair trade on both ends considering I got as far as "You bent him over" to "why on earth would you do that."

But for giggles and shits, let's break down the trade a little. On one side we have Hampton and Deebo going for Jeremiyah Love and BTJ. As far as every trade evaluator I put this into, it shows an even trade, so on paper nobody is winning or losing. You have 2 lead (or at least expected to be) backs switching up, however Hampton has been established already, and Love is still somewhat fighting for that position. BTJ has been on a downward trend for 2 seasons now, and Deebo is getting older by the minute. HOWEVER, as always there's a little more to this that we can dive into. Let's go to the managers for perspective.

Me: "I have been weary of Hampton's use and the efficiency of the LAC since week 1 and do not trust him very much, that said he's been perfectly solid even in bad weeks for the team and has still been a top 20 back despite these concerns. Deebo is in a very good situation in SF but I was deeper than expected at WR. I have been high on Love since preseason, and believe he will have a great season, but he is a risky player considering he has yet to gain control of the backfield, is a rookie, and plays for the Cardinals. I knew Love for Hampton straight up would not be enough so I added Deebo to the mix. This trade was essentially for just Love, but The Pit would have been required to drop a player anyway and BTJ seems like a solid stash in the hopes that he is traded to another team this season."

The Pit: "I really like Love, but I am pretty set at starting RB's at the moment, and the offer was solid considering I wasnt statistically losing much at the RB slot, but potentially gaining a much better flex player than BTJ"

At the end of the season there will always be a technical winner and a loser, but this trade seems pretty even, one side gets some consistency but loses some potentially higher play, and the other takes on more of a risky bet. Which side would you rather have been on? Sound off by casting your vote

Moving forward, remember week 5 bye weeks start, so set your lineups accodingly.

(80% picked the "Love" side of the trade)

MU note:

Week four is in the books, and that shit was quite the bitter pill for some of us. The Match of the Week proved yet again to be quite the contest, coming down to the absolute wire on Sunday night, Sean took home the W (along with 66% of you who voted..so yay, good job for you) by 1.5 whole-ass points (emphasis on ASS) Christ!!, couldn't anyone grab a 5 yard catch??! Apparantly nobody on my team could. At least I can take the smallest of solice in the fact that we both sucked butt last week! Moving on, Dustin apparantly doesnt like winning much either, as his team decided to shit the bed against Kylan's, it's ok Dustin our real teams won last week at least! Bo's squad put up some nasty numbers last week, but according to my (and FFB'c) calculations 17 catches+189 yds+1 TD = Get Fucked. Davon's team finally came to play....unfortunately Mikes team came to play harder-er this week. I know it doesn't mean much, but dude you would have beat literally anyone (sans Alberto) else last week. Strong case for league median scores guys...think about it. Robert broke down against David, did he even have a chance last week ;) ? And Arturo, despite a very strong showing still lost to Spencer...Its ok you can join me in the WTF I LOST?? club.

Week 5 brings us some solid games, but the highlight of the week shall be Kylan Vs Alberto, I mean I had to throw these two a bone after both their teams were humiliated last week.

W4 comish note

The league is starting to shape up, however remember it's a long season and it's still early yet. There are no housekeeping notes to make this week, but I do want to take a moment to remind all of you how this season will work/differ since at least one of you has called and asked me how this will work. So, just remember that nobody can nor will be officially eliminated from playoff contention until at the very earliest the end of week 13. At the end of week 11 the top 4 are locked for the playoffs and the rest of us all get thrown into the Challengers Cup, out of which the top 2 teams regardless of ranking at the end of week 11 are given the last two spots in the playoffs. Does anyone else not understand how this will work? If not please reach out to me and I will walk you through whatever questions on the matter you have. Otherwise, let's get on with week 4!

MU note

Week three saw some pretty awesome results for some of us....well, me at least. We almost got to see that wonderful parity amongst us, but alas, Alberto got to keep his bragging rights over his younger brother this week keeping him 3-0 and Arturo still wanting for his first win this season, and unfortunately for Devon like half his team decided to suit up but then play not-football, and let's take a moment to all bow our heads for a moment of silence for the loss of De'Von Achane for the season (....man that trade offer probaby sounds pretty good now huh?) The weekly poll saw 75% of us get the vote correct last week and the tops defeat the bottoms, I mean Bo taking it to Dustin in the Pride Bowl despite benching Zay and rostering Maye..who shat the bed in just the most spectacular way, but that's what can happen with a player like Bijan. David did the dog walking this week with a 40 point dismantling of Spencer's squad, and Mike kept up his asault on the league with his own 150+ point week over our reigning champ. Moving forward, week 4 sees some quite interesting matches, highlighted this week in the match of the week between myself and Sean. Who will reign supreme at the end of week 4? Go vote, our entire friendship hangs in the balance! not really.

W3 Comish note

Welcome to week 3. Only one small bit of commissioner based news/information to fill you in on this week. It was asked of me if it was illegal to not roster a full team. The answer to that is usually no, however there will be potential instances where it would be. Generally speaking if you dont want to roster a full squad, it wont be an issue; for example, if you dont want to drop anyone and you dont have anyone to fill in that spot, that is not an issue. Or if you are using it for strategy purposes; for example, you are up on Monday night by a slim margin and dont want to risk a loss of points in the matchup and thus waste a given win, that is also ok. If you are however not rostering a full squad in collusion, this falls under our collusion bylaws which is very much not allowed. Remember that collusion requires two people to be collusion, otherwise its just ...uh "llusion??" J/K its just you playing like an ass. Outlier cases like you simply throwing a fit and not rostering your squad in protest of something, is not allowed either, and will be rectified by myself and your roster will be locked and set based on highest projected for the remainder of the season. If there are any other instances in which you would like to address, please do so on the yahoo chat so I can address them with everyone at the same time.

Other than that, this week Power Rankings go live. I put a lot of work into those, so hopefully you enjoy them as much as I do making them!

MU note

Wow, what a week a difference makes, right?!  So with a literal 100% vote for David to win the match of the week, of course the curse strikes and we saw Alberto yet again come from behind (just like he likes it) and take the week by force to put himself solidly in the lead. Week two saw some awesome games for some of us. Albert as stated already overcame an 80 point assault from Allen and ASRB on Thursday night with his own version on Sunday night with a 60 point outburst from Mahomes and KWIII. In other news, Spencer dog-walked myself, Dustin, Kylan, and Sean all had expected by points wins, and Robert won the Bitch-ass Bowl between himself and Davon scoring only 92 points in the win and keeping his pristine record at 2-0. Just know its nothing but love Gents, only the teams you put out there are the "bitch-asses" not you guys, y'all are rock stars. Moving on, this week sees some interesting matches and when all the dust settles it's possible that we dont have any 0 win teams, or undefeated squads, yay for parity, at least I hope. Anyway...

W2 Comish note:

Welcome to week 2. I would just like to point out that there has been some issues reported across the forums regarding Yahoo fantasy having issues with player designations for IR. I have seen it fluctuate on a few players already, but it seems that everything was sorted for the start of week. Hopefully everything has been figured out from those in charge, but if anyone is having issues with their team please let me know and I will see if I can sort it out. otherwise have a good week, and as always: -good luck -WWCD

MU note:

Welcome to week two! Well it was a great week for 6 of us. Starting with our reigning champ, I suppose Kylan is still here ... The match lived up to the hype with both teams showing up to play, Kylan's squad put up an impressive 142.96 to Arturo's 132.86, overcoming a shitting of the bed by his beloved Denver Bronco's defense, and led by the 2nd year man Jeanty in flex.

Moving on to the rest of the games. Our closest defeat was Spencer beating Davon by only 2.74 pts. A close runner-up to the narrowest victory goes to David beating Dustin by 3.16 pts overcoming the odd pairing of players in J. Allen destroying the Houston defense. Robert took it upon himself to give Sean a nice warm welcome to the league handing him a 12 pt loss. Mike came to play week one with a dominating 166.5 pts beating the birthday boy Bo brutally by 39.38 pts. Leaving us with the battle of the commissioners with Alberto riding the 38.1 points from KW3 on Monday night erasing a 28.68 deficit with each team having one star player to go...and I bet you can guess what my WR1 Waddle decided to do, handing me the loss of the week.

With that, lets get to week 2.

W1 Commissioners note:

Welcome Gents to the greatest show on-line, its been a long and grueling 224 days since we last played and crowned our champ. We have a new member among our ranks this season, so can we all welcome in Sean (Concussion Protocol Dropout) D. to the FGL. I hope you're all ready for the best season yet and in true FGL fashion we will of course be introducing some new rules and procedures; as always, with the desire to continue to build and improve every year. As has been discussed in chats and text chains, this year's largest change comes in the form of schedule adjustment. The first 11 weeks will play out as usual but as we get closer to time I will be reminding and addressing you all on this in more depth. For those of you unaware, this will be a weekly blurb where I will address any issues, and the general state of the league, so please check here each week for any announcements, adjustments, and just my general musings. With that said, let's get to it

Matchup Note:

Welcome to week one! Nothing special to note this week as far as the schedule, or matters revolving around it. Just remember that we have FOUR!!! Primetime games starting Wednesday the 9th at 5:20 pm, then Thursday night, Sunday night, and ending the week with MNF. What a time to be alive! Set your lineups accordingly.
